We are a goofy bunch here at my house. I have three amazing grown children. BYU Girl, who loves her college. The Marine, who is my hero. Bee, my youngest who brought me my beautiful granddaughter. There is also the Soldier, my son-in-law who serves in South Korea and is currently waiting for his wife, Bee, and his daughter, Buggy, to join him for the final year and a half of his service in that location.
There is also the Hubby who has been in my life for 24 years now and is my best friend. He is my rock when I need it. And for THAT, I will always be grateful.
I've been overweight during all of my mothering years. For 20 years I've struggled to keep up and want to play with my kids. My knees were always a factor. They ached and hurt. For that matter, they still ache and hurt, but they are better than they were.
When my daughter announced her pregnancy at age 17 she was freaked out. I was truly grateful she had graduated high school with her high school sweetheart. He had left for basic training as he wanted to join the Army in order to support our daughter as they planed to get married. Once he found out she had become pregnant he was more adamant that they get married and become a real family.
During this entire time I'd been fighting to lose weight but had always gave up. Slowly, I became more and more depressed about it. I felt like I was alone in the fight. I felt like whatever I did it wouldn't matter and all I could do is learn to smile and just be fat.
So....What Changed?
My little Buggy was born and I became a Grandma. When Bee and Soldier got married my parents were unable to attend as my Dad couldn't travel due to health conditions and I know he wouldn't not let anything stop him from being there. He has struggled with heart disease and now has congestive heart failure. He is slowly dying.
I don't want to be that person in my family. I WANT to be there for my kids and grandkids. I WANT to be present in their lives. I WANT to know that I can be there when needed. I wanted again to strive to lose weight and lead a healthy life. I remembered back to my friend who started working out a couple years back. She looked GREAT!!! She also became a coach for Beachbody. I took a chance to ask her for help and she welcomed me with open arms.
30 Days later I have lost 9 lbs and 12.5 inches. Needless to say...I am pushing along in my journey to get healthy.
I WILL GET THERE!!!
